Interested in horse training?

Kyhlwood Training is dedicated to producing calm, kind horses that enjoy their job. Whether you are looking for a show horse or a trail horse a strong foundation is paramount. I don’t believe a foundation can be built with force. No matter what I am working on I allow the horse to dictate the speed. I will not rush or force anything. Whatever stage of training the horse is in I like to involve the owner and students. I never want to work with a horse to the point where they are fabulous for me and their owner doesn’t understand how to get the best out of them.

Kyhlwood Training is the ideal place for horses to get exposed to a lot of different stimuli. Between lessons in the arena, dogs, cats, students and all of the obstacles on the trails I try to help my training horses learn how to be confident in many different situations. I don’t believe that you can ‘desensitize’ a horse to everything they may encounter in their life. Instead I try to help them develop curiosity about new things and eventually that curiosity outweighs fear. I want my training horses to be comfortable turning to their human handlers when something frightens.

I believe that most behavioral issues stem from fear and confusion. By going back to the beginning and finding out where that fear or confusion stems from we are able to address the root of the problem. I find that by pealing back the layers and repairing the holes we can prevent it from becoming an issue again.
